The city's Citizen Development and Enrichment Committee will review a staff report detailing what resources the City will contribute towards the safety of residents and visitors during this year's Holiday Lights Displays. The Committee, consisting of Councilpersons Gerson, Mattucci and Lewis, will meet Wednesday, May 15th at 4 PM at the Council chambers.
SNA found out on today after noon about this meeting, and apologizes for the late notice. The staff report, including summaries of the last 3 Holiday Lights Displays, can be found here: https://www.torranceca.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/89708 This important meeting is being held during the day time, when many residents will not be able to attend, SNA suggests that residents send their comments to the Committee in writing. TO PARTICIPATE BEFORE THE MEETING, email [email protected] and write “Citizen Development and Enrichment Committee Meeting” in the subject line. In the body of the email include your comments. Emails received by 5:30 p.m. tomorrow Tuesday, May 14, 2024 will be included as “Supplemental” on the City’s website. One item of interest to residents is the Cottage Food Industry ordinance. If residents wish to again sell food from their homes, the Cottage Food Industry ordinance hours of sales (9AM to 5PM ) will need to be changed. (Last year the City Manager allowed an exemption so residents could sell until 9 PM. ) Another talking point is the cost of employing the Code Enforcement Officers, and whether the city will add more of them.

Furthermore, printed material forthcoming from the city will expand upon and clarify the schedule for Vista Montana St. and work involved in the re-opening of the road.
